Covid-19 Update as at 05/07/2021

The Delta variant is now the most common strain of Covid-19, with cases being the highest amongst the secondary school age group.

The Delta variant spreads more rapidly, and can take up to 8 days from exposure to show on a lateral flow test. Please, even if you have no symptoms, continue to carry out lateral flow tests twice weekly.

The symptoms of covid-19 have evolved – you may not experience loss of smell / cough, new symptoms are more hayfever like or similar to common cold, runny nose or even mild rash, tummy upset.

We have plenty of lateral flow test kits in school, please contact the office if you require more.

Bailey Street AP Academy Expectations of Remote Learning

When learning at home…

As a pupil I will:

  • Ensure I am dressed appropriately for all lessons (No PJ’s or onesies.)
  • Use technology safely and sensibly, the same as I would in school.
  • Attend all lessons as per my timetable, which was sent out on 18th January with work packs. This can be emailed again if needed.
  • Complete my work as though I was at school to the best of my ability.
  • Not afraid to ask for help and guidance if I am struggling. You can contact school and a member of staff will return your questions if completing work that is set on line.
  • Turn off all distractions such at TV, consoles, and phones when working.
  • Make no inappropriate or silly comments when in virtual lessons and keep the microphone switched off unless told to do so.
  • Be aware that all lessons ‘can’ be recorded and the chat thread will be saved. Any inappropriate behaviour will result in further consequences.
  • Not smoking or vape during lesson time.

As a parent I will:

  • Support school and ensure my child accesses the work set out as in their timetable and is dressed appropriately.
  • Monitor my child’s attendance to virtual lessons and liaise with school if there are any problems.
  • Contact school if I have any concerns relating to school work or the timetable they are following.

As a school we will:

  • Follow the same safeguarding protocols as when in school.
  • Ensure work is being set for all pupils accordingly.
  • Ensure our staff team are contactable during lesson times, when work is being set on line to help students/parents with any difficulties where possible.
  • Return any questions relating to school work within 24 hours.
  • Respond to students work and provide feedback.
  • Complete statutory registers that will be monitored by the Local Authority and Education Welfare Officer (EWO).
  • Assess work submitted in line with whole school procedures/cycles.

We appreciate it is a difficult time at the moment so please get in touch if you need any further help with remote learning. It is very important that all pupils are accessing education and follow their school timetable each day as best as they can.
