Hidden History at Bailey Street

Hidden History at Bailey Street

The development and refurbishment of our beautiful school uncovered some exciting discoveries. The pictures below show:

  • Pottery fragments, from the Staffordshire Yeomanry Regiment who inhabited the site a long time ago – this regiment dates back to 1794! For more information, click here.
  • British .303 ammunition rounds – approximately 200 bullets were found.
  • A rifle – Mauser bolt-action rifle (Kar98k)
  • Two M98/05 bayonets.

It’s exciting to know that our lessons are taking place on top of such historic soil. If you’ve got any more questions about what was uncovered during the refurbishment of the building, why not ask history addict, Mr Cooksey?
